LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates junior Rocco Fantoni was named to the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division III Team of the Week for the second time this season Tuesday, after his outstanding play in Bates' wins last week over Hamilton and Endicott.

Fantoni (Hauppage, N.Y.) is the lone defender out of the 10 players named to the team across Division III.

Fantoni was also named to the USILA Division III Team of the Week on March 20, and has only continued his outstanding season since then. He has totaled 24 caused turnovers thus far, 10 more than any other player in the NESCAC. He also ranks eighth in the NESCAC in ground balls with 41 -- more than any non-faceoff man in the conference.

In last Tuesday's 15-10 win over Endicott, Fantoni forced three Gull turnovers and collected five ground balls. In Saturday's 19-9 win at Hamilton, Fantoni amassed four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Fantoni joins senior teammate Clarke Jones (Pepper Pike, Ohio) in gathering a weekly honor this week, with Jones being named NESCAC Player of the Week on Monday.

The Bobcats (6-4, 2-3 NESCAC) host rival Bowdoin (6-2, 3-2 NESCAC) Wednesday night at 7pm, at Garcelon Field.
